How data exchange on Senate works

The Senate Platform delivers a ‘data sharing control-center’ for organizations. Approval workflows are implemented to govern data access, data visibility, protect customer privacy and enforce licensing terms across all internal and external data sharing projects.

Your Senate Administrator can set up one or more Approvers for your organization. Users in the Approver group can act on behalf of your organization to provide authority for a data exchange by approving data licenses, and publishing data listings and managing the different workflows.

Understand the approval workflows in Senate

As a project progresses through the Senate workflow, the Approver receives email notifications when data licenses or data listings have been submitted for approval. Use the approval workflow diagrams as a reference guide.

Approve data licenses on behalf of your organization

Data Licenses are created in a project to formalize terms of a data exchange. Data Licenses specify the name of the licensee organization (data recipient), data packages to be exchanged, conditions for permitted use of data, access term for data packages and related commercials. 

Approve the Data License after the terms in the draft license are agreed upon and have been submitted to you for review.

Publish data listings on behalf of your organization

Data Listings are created to manage data exchange with other organizations. They contain a description of the data package for exchange, the data package itself, metadata and may include other information such as pricing, potential use cases and applications.

Approve the Data Listing once it is ready to publish. You can list it on the Data Republic Catalog or your organization’s Closed Catalog
