Access to the data on the Senate platform follows strict procedures governed by Data Republic and enforced by the design of the technology itself.

Data Contributors (companies or organizations ingesting data into the platform) have their data encrypted at rest and stored in segregated storage in the Data Republic multi-tenancy cloud storage system. Data Republic’s developers and operations team members are trained in best practice secure development and deployment. As our software is built, it automatically verified during each and every build, with automated deployment to hardened systems. Continuous hardening is applied to our build process, so each build of Data Republic is as at least as secure as any that have been formally verified.

Data Contributors have full oversight and control over which Users can access their data as well as how much data of a set is made available and for what analysis or use. In addition, data science workspaces are monitored and checked for compliance with our data usage policies. Data Republic also commissions regular third-party security audits to ensure the highest standards of security are maintained.

Does Data Republic Encrypt Data?

Yes, all data held within Data Republic is encrypted. We use the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), an industry standard specification for encrypting electronic data. It was established by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and is used by the U.S. government and leading organizations worldwide.
